Some venue pages still write PDT or PST; PCT replaces both labels.
What changed
British Columbia made its last clock change on March 8, 2026. Clocks do not change on November 1, 2026, and the province stays on the time it already keeps.
Pacific time now runs all year, seven hours behind UTC. That offset, UTC-7, is the same one BC used for summer daylight time, so the summer offset now holds through the winter too. The labels change with it: PCT replaces PST and PDT. A venue schedule that reads 10 AM in October reads 10 AM in December.
The exceptions
The East Kootenay, Cranbrook included, stays aligned with Alberta on MDT, which is UTC-6, all year. That puts it one hour ahead of the rest of BC. A provincial news release of March 2, 2026 described the East Kootenay rule differently. This guide follows the newer provincial page, published September 17, 2026.
In the Peace River region, Dawson Creek and Fort St. John stay on Mountain Standard Time all year. MST is UTC-7, which now matches the rest of the province, so the label differs while the clock does not.
Golden is a separate case. It makes one last clock change on November 1, 2026, to MST, or UTC-7, and keeps that time all year. Further south, Chances Castlegar in the West Kootenay keeps Pacific time, while Casino of the Rockies in Cranbrook keeps Mountain time.
What it means for venue hours
Every venue in this guide publishes its hours in local time. Across BC that means Pacific time; at Casino of the Rockies in Cranbrook it means Mountain time. Its doors open at 11 AM local all year, closing at 11 PM Sunday to Thursday and at 1 AM on Friday and Saturday.
Some pages still print the old labels, PDT or PST. The clock check on this page shows the local time at each venue, and the open-now status follows published hours, not holidays. This page leaves out holiday hours; the venue's own site carries them.
Questions
Do BC casinos change their hours on November 1?
There is no clock change, so the hours do not move. British Columbia made its last clock change on March 8, 2026, and clocks do not change on November 1, 2026.
Is Casino of the Rockies an hour ahead?
Yes, Cranbrook and the rest of the East Kootenay stay aligned with Alberta on MDT, UTC-6, all year. That is one hour ahead of the rest of BC, and the casino publishes its hours in local Mountain time.
Are Dawson Creek and Fort St. John on Alberta time?
No, both towns stay on Mountain Standard Time, UTC-7, all year, which is the same clock as the rest of BC.
